The Story So Far

An Olive in the House of God.

Garden of Olive Ministries is a worshipping community in the heart of Accra, gathered around Jesus and the story of God's people. We take our name from the psalmist's image of the olive — a slow-growing, deeply rooted tree that keeps bearing fruit — because we believe faith is grown, not manufactured, and that God's steadfast love is reliable seed.

Our life together has been shaped by a few steady commitments: worship that is ancient and alive, hospitality that is genuinely open, and formation that is honest and unhurried. The community blooms in spaces like Olive Women of Worship, where the women of the church gather as sisters to pray, study, serve, and encourage one another across every season of life.

You will not find perfection here — only a people practicing grace in real time. Whether you are new to faith, curious, or simply looking for a home, there is room for you in the garden.

A church is more than a building — it is a people. Yet we believe the spaces we gather in can shape the way we pray, which is why we treat our sanctuary as holy ground: a place marked by light, room, and welcome.

Here the community comes together around story and table, spoken word and shared silence. The pulpit and the Lord's Table hold the centre, the windows welcome the Accra light, and the doors are kept wide open.

The Faith of the Whole Church

Standing with the Church on the Creeds.

For two thousand years, Christians have confessed their faith in a few short summaries — anchors for what we believe and guardrails for the generations to come. We are honoured to stand in that line, reciting these words as a faith we hold, and a faith that holds us.

1 The Apostles' Creed add

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

2 The Nicene Creed add

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

3 Scripture & the Sacraments add

We receive the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God — the story that shapes our story, and our rule for faith and practice.

We celebrate the sacraments Jesus gave his church: Baptism, the sign of our entrance into the covenant, and the Lord's Supper, the meal that rehearses his death until he comes. At his Table we welcome all who trust in Christ and seek to walk in his way.
